Southern Student Brayden Williamson Elected to Board of Governors

Southern WV Community & Technical College student Brayden Williamson has been elected to the institution’s Board of Governors.
LOGAN, WV – Southern WV Community & Technical College proudly announces that student Brayden Williamson has been elected to serve as the student representative on the institution’s Board of Governors.
Williamson, a 22-year-old Logan native, is not only a dedicated Southern student but also an accomplished musical artist and the President of Southern’s National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) Executive Board. Additionally, he is a member of 4 Star General Robert “Doc” Foglesong’s ALEF leadership society, further demonstrating his commitment to leadership and community service.
Passionate about both his community and his country, Williamson embraces hard work and dedication in all his endeavors. “I like to show support and dedication to my patriotism and work hard to get the job done no matter what it may be,” he stated.
Beyond academics and leadership, Williamson has successfully led his own band since the age of 18, touring across the United States and performing at major festivals, venues, and fairs. His efforts have helped him build a substantial social media presence and following at a young age. He is also deeply involved in his church community, striving to live his life following biblical teachings.
As he takes on his new role on the Board of Governors, Williamson is committed to advocating for students and ensuring their best interests are upheld. “Southern has always been a second home to me; the staff, administration, instructors, and the college’s unwavering commitment to benefiting the community hold a special place in my heart,” he said. “When I was told about this opportunity, I prayed about it and realized that my personality and goals were well-suited for this role. I felt confident that my classmates could trust me to represent them effectively.”
Williamson recognizes the crucial role Southern plays in the region, particularly in providing accessible higher education opportunities. “Due to financial burdens, many graduating seniors in rural West Virginia are not allowed to attend college,” he explained. “Southern offers scholarships and financial aid to help them transition to college. The Early College Academy program is also an amazing tool for high school students who want to begin a college career before they even graduate.”
Emphasizing the importance of student leadership, Williamson encourages his peers to step into roles that allow them to have a voice. “It is so important to have a voice to protect what’s right and maintain balance in the community. We need humble, strong, and honest young leaders who have the backbone to stand up for what they believe in.”
Southern West Virginia Community & Technical College congratulates Brayden Williamson on his election and looks forward to his contributions to the Board of Governors.
