Southern WV Community & Technical College President Dr. Pamela L. Alderman and University of Charleston President Dr. Martin S. Roth recently signed an articulation agreement to facilitate a seamless transfer process for Southern students seeking to continue their education at UC.

(Logan, WV, October 30, 2024) – Southern WV Community & Technical College and the University of Charleston (UC) proudly announce a strategic partnership to provide enhanced educational pathways for students in Southern’s programs. In a significant step towards collaboration, Southern President Dr. Pamela L. Alderman and UC President Dr. Martin S. Roth signed an articulation agreement to facilitate a seamless transfer process for Southern students seeking to continue their education at UC.

This groundbreaking agreement opens doors for students who have earned an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from Southern. These students can now quickly transfer their credits into bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at the University of Charleston. This partnership is not only a testament to the commitment of both institutions to fostering student success and emphasizes the importance of accessible education in the region.

Dr. Alderman expressed her enthusiasm about the agreement: “This partnership with the University of Charleston represents an exciting opportunity for our students to pursue their educational goals without the barriers often associated with transferring schools. We are dedicated to providing our students with every possible advantage, and this agreement is a major step in that direction.”

Dr. Roth echoed these sentiments, affirming, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Southern West Virginia Community College. By joining forces, we can provide greater access to higher education and enable students to build on their foundational learning. We believe this articulation agreement will empower students to achieve their academic and professional aspirations.”

The articulation agreement outlines the specific programs eligible for transfer, ensuring that students can expect a smooth transition that is complete with support and resources. Students transferring to UC will have access to academic advising, career services, and various student organization opportunities that enhance their university experience.

As part of this collaboration, both institutions are committed to hosting workshops and information sessions to guide students through the transfer process, making the transition as seamless as possible. Southern and UC will work closely to ensure students are well-informed about their options and supported throughout their educational journeys.
