Southern Recognizes Collegiate Recovery on Logan, Boone, and Williamson Campuses
Every year in April, Collegiate Recovery programs, staff and students come together to recognize collegiate recovery.
It is an opportunity to highlight a growing field that supports students in or seeking recovery. Over the past several decades, the field of collegiate recovery has expanded to provide support to college students across the United States and Canada. Growing support for CRPs is also increasing in the United Kingdom as well.
Peer Recovery Support Specialist, Aaron Blankenship shares that: “Collegiate Recovery Week provides an opportunity to celebrate and honor the incredible things that students in recovery do when they are provided with the support and nurturance necessary to thrive.”
Our hope for Collegiate Recovery Week this year is to celebrate, advocate, and honor the field of collegiate recovery on April 15th on the Logan, Williamson, and Boone campuses of Southern WV Community & Technical College.
The local celebrations will feature local talent, Brayden Williamson will perform on the Logan campus from 10-2 pm. A film called “First Step” about re-entering society following incarceration and the struggles that they face will be shown in the Savas Kostas Performing Arts Center at 3 pm.
