“Follow the Yellow Brick Road” to Southern WV Community & Technical College’s Savas Kostas Performing Arts Center on the Logan campus for a classic musical that will take you and your family “Over the Rainbow!”

The show features a large cast and crew of all ages from throughout Southern West Virginia—the stage version of L. Frank Baum’s book will bring Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion, Glinda the Good Witch, the Munchkins, and all the other colorful characters to life as they bargain with the Wizard and contend with the menacing Wicked Witch of the West.

Featuring music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y Harburg from the original 1939 film. “The Wizard of Oz has left an indelible impression on pop culture,” Director Bill France said.” It has grown into something that lies at the heart of how we feel about courage and homecoming.”

“With its stunning visual elements, glorious music, and the unabashed vulnerability of its cast of characters – be they lions, wizards, or men of tin – it fulfills the timeless role of a true classic,” France said. “The great thing about directing this show is it responds equally well to the imagination of theatre-making as it does to the wonderful technicolor of film.”

Opening night is Thursday, July 11th at 7 pm. Shows will continue Friday, July 12th, and Saturday, July 13th, at 7 pm. Two performances will occur on Sunday, July 14th, at 3 pm and again at 7 pm. The show’s final weekend will be Thursday, July 18th, Friday, July 19th, and Saturday, July 20th at 7 pm. The last day of shows will be Sunday, July 21st, at 3 pm and again at 7 pm.
