Southern also has an underground mine simulation to provide hands-on training to prepare and enhance student knowledge of what to expect underground. This is the industry’s first of its kind. This underground simulation feels and looks just like a real mine. Utilizing various work labs will increase the miners ability to be a safer, more efficient worker.
Southern uses a first-class, state of the art, 3D simulator with a full-range motion based operator’s seat, to provide training for surface mine equipment.
This simulator is equivalent to those used by the military and commercial airlines for pilot training and can be used for many equipment scenarios.
