Operations Coordinator for the Academy for Mine Training and Energy Technologies is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, coordination, management, operation, instruction, and assessment of courses, programs, and/or customized training for the energy sector and support industries and works in conjunction with the Director and/or Vice President for Workforce and Community Development.  This position works with business and industry, state and federal agencies, college administration, faculty, staff, contracted vendors, and community members to initiate develop, implement, assess, and expand the Academy's programs to meet business and industry training needs which supports the College's mission:  "Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College provides accessible, affordable, quality education and training that promote success for those we serve", and the College's institutional commitment to provide "Workforce development, continuing education, and training programs that support the needs of employees and employers and serve as a mechanism for economic development."  Requirements:  Teaching knowledge of underground and surface mining methods including continuous, conventional, long-wall, remote control, mountaintop, etc., underground mine ventilation, section total mine roof control; mine gases; haulage and haulage equipment; state and federal mine laws; practical knowledge of mine fires; basic knowledge of mine rescue; mine rescue teams and equipment; first aid and CPR instructor; and overall knowledge of general mine safety.  The applicant must have the ability to develop curriculum and teach and demonstrate strong leadership skills and organizational skills with attention to detail.  Applicant must also have the ability to initiate and maintain accurate records, maintaining confidentiality.  Applicant must have a minimum of 5 + years hands-on mining experience and AAS/AS/AA, Bachelor degree preferred; or 10 + years of experience with college credits and mine safety training experience.  West Virginia Office of Miners' Health, Safety, and Training (WV OMHS&T) and/or Miners' Safety and Health Adminstration (MSHA) Certifications required to teach a variety of mine related and technical courses such as: underground apprentice, surface apprentice, emergency medical technician-miner, West Virginia certified electrician for surface and/or underground mines, electrical retraining, forty hour electrical apprentice classes, and annual retraining in specified areas, etc.;  Certificated Miner Safety and Health Administration (M.S.H.A.) instructor I.S-I.U.M.R.-M.S preferred; Certificated State of West Virginia Office of Miners' Health, Safety, and Training (WVOMHST) Instructor for Underground Apprentice, Surface Apprentice, Mine Foreman, Continuing Education Mine Foreman, or combination of instructor certifications, required; Certified Emergency Medical Technician (E.M.T.) Instructor, preferred; Experience in management and/or delivery of industry safety training; and/or Combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.  Application Review will begin on October 22, 2018.  Position open until filled.
