STUDENT SERVICES SPECIALIST - Technical Programs

Campus:   Williamson   Responsibilities:  Facilitates the admission of students into higher education, assists in the process of acquisition of financial aid, monitors students’ academic progress, and provides support in a collegiate environment that allows students to persist to the point of reaching their unique academic goals.  Counsels and advises students at assigned campus(es) and off-campus sites and assists in the coordination and delivery of student services, including recruitment, advising, registration, financial aid, placement testing, counseling, orientation, disability services, degree audits, student government, student activities, tutorial services, career planning, and job placement.  Responsible for developing varied structured programs, workshops, and seminars for campus delivery.  This position assists students from recruitment through graduation.  Requirements: Master’s Degree in Counseling, Student Personnel (Guidance and Counseling), Psychology, Education, or a related field and at least two (2) years of experience in student services, counseling, academic advising, and/or financial aid in a higher education setting are required.  Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training may be considered.  Must work as an effective team member, have strong customer service skills, strong people skills, knowledge of counseling theories, and the ability to intervene in a crisis situation.  Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills both orally and written, administrative management skills, and problem solving skills.  Must demonstrate considerable knowledge of the principles of individual appraisal—including interviewing, occupational testing and evaluation of personal traits and abilities.  Application deadline is Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
