In February 2015, President Joanne Jaeger Tomblin announced her intention to retire as president of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College effective June 30, 2015.
The Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College Board of Governors has officially launched its search for the ninth President of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College with the release of the position announcement. The College has contracted with Ayers & Associates, Inc. of Arlington, Virginia, to assist in the search.
The Board of Governors for Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College established the Search Committee in March 2015. To maintain continuity among its membership, the Presidential Search Committee consists of all of the current members of the Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College Board of Governors as of March 2015, including the current faculty, staff, and student representatives on the Board, who will be the voting members of the Search Committee. In the event that there is a change in one or more of the faculty, staff, and/or student representative(s) to the Board of Governors, the Search Committee membership may be modified or supplemented to assure continued compliance with Series 5 and the applicable rules of the Council. The Search Committee is comprised of professional and community leaders; faculty, classified staff, and student representatives; and a SWVCC Foundation leader. The Board of Governors hopes to select a new President no later than the end of the 2015 Fall Semester. The search process will continue and may be extended for as long as necessary in order for the Search Committee to identify and hire a suitable candidate for President. The Search Committee Chair and official spokesperson for the group is Board of Governors Chair, Thomas A. Heywood, of Charleston, WV.
